Grade 4 teachers at École RWBB School planned for students to be able to describe and apply mental mathematics strategies and develop an understanding of basic multiplication facts to 9 × 9.
Their students have been participating in math facts “bootcamp” and using specific computer programs such as Xtra Math. The students or “soldiers” have to complete missions (games and activities). Some of the games require them to do push ups and jumping jacks. Math bootcamp has been a fun and engaging way to learn math facts! Students are now able to multiply up to 5 x 5 with a possible extension to 9 x 9.
