“Math Beyond Numbers”

The goal of École R.W. Bobby Bend’s math month was to expose students to new mathematical thinking and experiences and provide a meaningful context for mathematical thinking. Numeracy and Technology at École Stonewall Centennial School

This year, the French Immersion program at École Stonewall Centennial School introduced a new web and iPad application to support numeracy: Netmath. This Manitoba curriculum-aligned program is currently available in both French and English for students in grades 3 through 9. Students enjoy working through the program at their own pace both at school and at home. Understanding ADHD

Join us for an information session at École R.W. Bobby Bend School entitled:  Understanding ADHD. The session will provide information about ADHD – subtypes, symptoms, and how it can present.  Also discussed will be strategies for accommodating the needs of students with ADHD at school, and strategies for supporting children with ADHD in completing homework and chores at home. Rosser Elementary Number Dress Up Day

Number Dress Up Day Rosser school took part in a number dress up day as part of their focus on numeracy. They dressed up as numbers and created number hats with different representation of numbers. This was an exciting way to get students thinking about numbers. Students had fun creating visual representations of numbers and showing off their number knowledge!

Teulon Elementary

Teulon Elementary School once again focused some of our holiday cheer on helping our community – specifically the Teulon & District Christmas Cheer Board.  Over a 2 week period, classes tracked their progress daily by charting the number of items they brought it.  Students estimated how many items their class would bring in and how many the school would bring in as a whole.  The end goal was a class pizza party followed by some fun activities in the gym… Read More

SCI – Gym Riot

Gym Riot – Stonewall Collegiate As a part of the wellness activities at Stonewall Collegiate, we have created Teacher Advisory Groups (TAG).  These are multi-grade groups that focus on connecting students with each other and the teachers at SCI.  One of the activities that we have done with these groups was a TAG War in the gym.  TAGs were assigned a colour and competed in a fun gym riot.

Helping Hands

The Teulon Collegiate Helping Hands Committee collected forty-three shoe boxes from the students and staff for the Operation Christmas Child Shoe box Campaign. This is part of our Helping Hands mission to support our School, our Community and Global initiatives to help make the World a better place.

Addictions Awareness Week

November 21 was a jam packed day for students of Warren Collegiate.  After a morning in the city watching ‘Robin Hood’ linking to ELA outcomes, students achieved health outcomes by participating in a Jeopardy competition.  Categories promoted Addictions Awareness, with a focus on how drug and alcohol addictions can be related to anxiety and depression. November Numbers

November numbers is part of the divisional numeracy focus in K – 8 schools. Each day, students celebrate the number of the day.  November numbers is a playful way to develop a positive disposition toward mathematics learning. Rosser School – The Grade 1’s and 2’s are so proud of their November Numbers. As soon as we say it is November Numbers all their hands shoot up to go to the board.
