Why Junior Kindergarten? The Interlake School Division (ISD) would like to support children born in 2015 and their families in the transition to Kindergarten by offering a voluntary, no-charge, drop-off program in each ISD community. Children learn through play. During the Junior Kindergarten program children will be exploring, creating, and developing their imaginations while participating in a wide range of child-centered activities in an enriching environment.
What is Junior Kindergarten? While attending the Junior Kindergarten program, children will sing songs, read stories, play games, and build on their strengths. Growing accustomed to their community school will help ensure a smooth transition to Kindergarten. Excitement about attending school will build as children engage in fun activities.
When is Junior Kindergarten? Junior Kindergarten will be offered one half day per week from October to May. Specific dates will be determined in September.
Where is Junior Kindergarten? Junior Kindergarten will run in each of our communities that have Kindergarten. Junior Kindergarten programs will take place in our schools and, wherever possible, will have access to the many exciting things that schools have to offer like libraries, playgrounds, and gymnasiums.
Who will run Junior Kindergarten? Our Early Childhood Educators are thrilled to be bringing this program to the future students of the Interlake School Division. Our educators have many years experience in the field of early childhood education and look forward to working with parents/guardians and their children.
This program is available to children born in 2015 who live within the Interlake School Division Ward boundaries.
