School Social Workers Jocelyn Mitchell and Vicky Brzuskiewicz facilitated a learning network for grade 5–12 school counselors. This network focused on fostering student resiliency and the Circle of Courage, where counselors had the opportunity to explore and create their own assessments based on the needs identified in their schools. Counselors were also provided with knowledge on how trauma can impact the learning brain, and how educators can create a sense of community through autonomy, resiliency, and empathy. These networks continue to support the individual, group, and classroom work that school counselors provide to our students. By expanding their skills and teaching them different strategies and approaches, students will learn the importance of discovering their own self-awareness and wellness.
