The Survivor’s flag is flown as an expression of remembrance to honour residential school Survivors and all the lives and communities impacted by the residential school system in Canada. From the collection of the National Center for Truth and Reconciliation, each element depicted on the flag has been carefully selected by Survivors from across Canada who were consulted in the flag’s creation. https://nctr.ca/exhibits/survivors-flag/
This action expresses the Interlake School Division’s commitment to recognizing the harms and mistakes of the past and to moving forward in a spirit of reconciliation with Indigenous peoples.
