Did you know that almost 40% of Woodlands School students are Métis? Woodlands School has been learning about Métis history and culture this year through many different Elders and Knowledge Keepers. Highlights included story telling about Louis Riel and Cuthbert Grant, cooking Bannock over a fire, 3D archery, weaving a school sash, learning how to “read” a sash, weekly jigging lessons and weaving an extra large sash in the gym with ropes. This work is part of Woodland School’s yearlong journey examining “Who We Are”.
