Warren Elementary – Numeracy

Warren Elementary School has been working hard in the area of numeracy this year.  Our teachers have embraced two new strategies that they have learned from our divisional Math Consultant; Guided Math and Number Talks.  These strategies are helping our students solidify their understanding of numeracy processes in a fun and interactive way that also meets each students individual needs.

Teulon Elementary – Early Literacy Classroom

Teulon Elementary School has been embracing our early literacy classroom which all grade 1 and 2 students visit on a daily basis. Updated ISD School Calendar

Manitoba Education has mandated two additional inservice days for all schools prior to the December break.  The two additional inservice days in ISD will be December 4 and 7. Tuesday, December 8 will remain a Day 1 on the 6-day calendar as originally scheduled.

TIP Students Join the Robb Nash Project

The students in The Infinity Program (TIP) have had the opportunity to spend time and get involved with the Robb Nash Project, headed by Canadian singer-songwriter, Robb Nash. The project works to engage young people through the power of music and storytelling and addresses topics related to mental health such as depression, anxiety, self-harm, addiction, bullying and suicidal ideation. In light of misinformation which has been widely spread on social media, we will share that at no point did any staff member of Stonewall Collegiate or Interlake School Division direct, nor mandate, any student to wear a ‘rainbow poppy’. Ecology Day – Oak Hammock Marsh

At the end of September approximately 200 ISD grade 4 students took part in the annual Ecology Day at Oak Hammock Marsh. The staff at the marsh led the students in activities such as critter dipping, a marsh walk, ecology games and a lesson on Hawks, Owls & Falcons. Presentations were in English and French. Thankfully the weather cooperated, and both students and teachers reported the day to be a success.
