The goal of École R.W. Bobby Bend’s math month was to expose students to new mathematical thinking and experiences and provide a meaningful context for mathematical thinking. Our students learned that math is everywhere! Through hands-on activities, they learned that Math is Building- STEM-related activities were explored. (Students pictured here are from Madame Millar’s grade 2 class and they are trying to build the longest bridge with the materials provided).
Other activities demonstrated that Math is in Literature- math activities were tied to books, Math is Movement – students explored how math can be experienced through body movement and Math is in Music – activities were designed to notice how music and math are tied together.
