The goal of École R.W. Bobby Bend’s math month was to expose students to new mathematical thinking and experiences and provide a meaningful context for mathematical thinking. This year, the French Immersion program at École Stonewall Centennial School introduced a new web and iPad application to support numeracy: Netmath. This Manitoba curriculum-aligned program is currently available in both French and English for students in grades 3 through 9. Students enjoy working through the program at their own pace both at school and at home. Fun, interactive math activities engage students as they complete tasks for extra practice or for enrichment. Join us for an information session at École R.W. Bobby Bend School entitled: Understanding ADHD. The session will provide information about ADHD – subtypes, symptoms, and how it can present. Also discussed will be strategies for accommodating the needs of students with ADHD at school, and strategies for supporting children with ADHD in completing homework and chores at home. Number Dress Up Day Rosser school took part in a number dress up day as part of their focus on numeracy. They dressed up as numbers and created number hats with different representation of numbers. This was an exciting way to get students thinking about numbers. Students had fun creating visual representations of numbers and showing off their number knowledge!

Teulon Elementary School once again focused some of our holiday cheer on helping our community – specifically the Teulon & District Christmas Cheer Board. Over a 2 week period, classes tracked their progress daily by charting the number of items they brought it. Students estimated how many items their class would bring in and how many the school would bring in as a whole. Gym Riot – Stonewall Collegiate As a part of the wellness activities at Stonewall Collegiate, we have created Teacher Advisory Groups (TAG). These are multi-grade groups that focus on connecting students with each other and the teachers at SCI. One of the activities that we have done with these groups was a TAG War in the gym. TAGs were assigned a colour and competed in a fun gym riot.

In an effort to increase SCHOOL BUS SAFETY each year MASBO puts on a poster contest for the province. This years theme was “My School Bus. The safest form of Student Transportation”. Each school division is responsible for collecting posters and picking a divisional winner from each category to send in to be judged at the provincial level. Thanks to all who participated!
